TEAM LEADER - SUIT COUPLE OR JOB SHARE

An exciting opportunity is available for a couple to join our family friendly tourism/accommodation business. Our primary need is for a Team Leader to help manage and perform “hands on” work within our small multi-skilled team.

The couple (or job share partners) will reside in the village located in the heart of a South West karri forest, a tranquil place teaming with wildlife and steeped in heritage.

There is one full time position offering varied duties in a flexible work environment. That person will lead by example and work within our team to maintain and improve the village and business. There is also an opportunity for more casual front and back-of-house work for a partner that may expand to part or full time dependent on the businesses need and the partner’s availability and capability.

The couple will be required to work both independently and with the Manager. Workdays will generally include weekends and holiday periods, with most days off taken midweek, and annual leave by agreement.

KEY JOBS:

1) MAINTAIN GROUNDS AND SERVICES
a) Manage grounds; deal with fallen trees, road maintenance and remove hazards;
b) Seasonal weed control using environmentally sensitive techniques;
c) Plant and maintain trees and gardens, including pruning, watering and mulching;
d) Fire preparation including fuel load reduction, fire truck usage and improve fire fighting capacity;
e) Manage firewood supply, including some cutting and distribution of wood;
f) Manage water supply, including dams, tanks, pumps, chlorination and testing regime;
g) Maintain slow combustion fireplaces, flues, and Metters stoves;
h) Maintain and improve recreation and play equipment;
i) Minor constructions and road maintenance.
2) BACK OF HOUSE HOSPITALITY
a) Check cottages prior to occupation; clean yards, and verandahs;
b) Check cottages after guests depart, clean barbecues;
c) Collect and manage rubbish and recycling;
d) Check and replace gas cylinders, maintain lighting and hot water systems;
e) Sort and distribute linen, coordinate laundry services;
f) Work with food, occasional cooking.
3) FRONT OF HOUSE HOSPITALITY
a) Shop assistant, serve coffee and café food;
b) Direct customer service for village guests.
4) OTHER
a) Relief work for management and other staff;
b) Village caretaker when manager is absent; and,
c) Manage the vehicle fleet and equipment.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

• Lead and work well within a small team;
• Be empathetic, adaptable, resourceful, practical and inventive in finding solutions;
• High level of initiative, be self-organised and willing to fulfil a variety of tasks, often menial or time constrained;
• Motivated and physically able to carry out manual work;
• Customer service skills and capacity to work with children;
• Clean driving license, ideally able to operate a tractor, digger or skid-steer;
• Practical or skilled with a diverse range of machinery, including chainsaws, pumps, and welders;
• Committed to maintaining a safe working environment;
• Practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing and other domestic services;
• Interest in landscaping, the environment and wildlife;
• Willingness to undertake Senior First Aid certificate and volunteer fire-fighting commitment desirable; and,
• Creativity and special interests/skills encouraged.
